Choreography: By George Balanchine.

Production: Directed and choreographed by George Balanchine. Scenery and costumes by Nicolas Benois.

Premiere: March 30, 1969, Hamburgische Staatsoper, Hamburg. Danced by the Ballett der Hamburgischen Staatsoper. Conductor: Charles Mackerras.

Cast: SINGERS: Svetosar, Carl Schultz; Ludmilla, Jeanette Scovotti; Ruslan, Hubert Hofmann; Ratmir, Ursula Boese; Farlaf, Noël Mangin; Garislava, Judith Beckmann; Finn, Helmut Melchert; Naïna, Maria v. Ilosvay; and others. DANCERS: ACT II VISION SCENE: 3 women; ACT III ORIENTAL DANCES: 5 women, 5 men.

Note: In the original score the opera is divided into five acts, with the vision scene occurring in Act III and the ORIENTAL DANCES occurring in Act IV.
