In keeping with its educational mission, The George Balanchine Foundation in alliance with The George Balanchine Trust has developed a lecture series for dance companies that have licensed and are performing Balanchine ballets. These lectures, "Dancing Balanchine/Watching Balanchine", feature Merrill Ashley, a former principal dancer for twenty years with the New York City Ballet, in dialogue with dance writer Nancy Goldner. Each lecture is hand tailored to focus on the specific Balanchine work being performed. Through the series, the Foundation hopes to provide insight on the Balanchine repertory and aesthetic to companies performing Balanchine works.
